Pfaff Motorsports Reflects on Strong Debut at Sebring with Lamborghini Temerario GT3
Sebring, FL – Pfaff Motorsports successfully executed its debut in the IMSS SportsCar Championship at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring last month, achieving key objectives with the Lamborghini Temerario GT3. The team, backed by a significant months-long development effort, completed all 12 hours of racing and finished tenth in the GTD Pro class.
General Manager Steve Bortolotti emphasized the importance of durability, stating, “We were proud to make it to the end of the race. That was our goal going into it, and we executed on it.” The team’s drivers—Lamborghini factory representatives Andrea Caldarelli, Sandy Mitchell, and Franck Perera—drove the #9 Lamborghini to a total of 319 laps.
Bortolotti noted that while the team didn’t challenge for podiums, they were on pace until a minor brake issue caused a setback with only 90 minutes remaining. “We lost a lap due to a small brake issue… It was an issue that we had not seen in any of the testing,” he admitted, but highlighted that “the car wasn’t damaged,” allowing the team to finish the race.
The event served as a significant milestone, attracting over 115,000 spectators and marking the first competitive appearance of the Lamborghini Temerario GT3. Bortolotti praised Lamborghini’s inclusive approach during the car’s development, which contributed to the successful debut.
As the team progresses into its maiden season with the new model, they are poised for a GTD class entry at Long Beach this weekend with driver Zachary Vanier joining Caldarelli. “The aero window of the most modern GT3-spec cars is different from what the Huracán was built off of,” Bortolotti explained regarding upcoming performance enhancements.
Pfaff aims to unlock further potential from the Temerario GT3 through a robust summer testing schedule. Bortolotti expressed confidence in his drivers, stating, “The three of them get along extremely well together… I couldn’t be happier to have checked that box with the three of them.”
The team’s ambitions extend beyond just finishing races. With the Twelve Hour goal achieved, Bortolotti is now focused on podium finishes and securing a long-awaited victory in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship: “We want to be contending for race wins and podiums, week in and week out.”
As the Lamborghini Temerario prepares for its next outing, Pfaff Motorsports is determined to build on the strong foundation established at Sebring, eyeing a promising future in North American sports car racing.
