Casey Cochran Signs with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing for 2027 SuperMotocross Championship
MARIETTA, Ga. — In a significant team shift within the motorsports landscape, Casey Cochran has officially joined Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing for the 2027 Monster Energy SuperMotocross World Championship. Cochran, previously with the KTM Group’s GasGas and Husqvarna teams, faced uncertainty following the shutdown of the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna team in May 2023.
Cochran’s entry into Yamaha marks a new chapter in his career as he prepares to compete on the YZ250F alongside a formidable lineup, including reigning champions Cole Davies and Kayden Minear. Despite recent injury struggles that have somewhat hampered his progress, Cochran boasts a promising record, highlighted by his victory at the 2023 SX Futures Championship and a notable podium finish at the 2024 Spring Creek National.
Jensen Hendler, Team Manager of Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, expressed enthusiasm about Cochran’s potential: “We are very excited to have Casey join us. He has impressed me for years, and I am looking forward to seeing what he can do on our team.”
Cochran himself conveyed his eagerness for the new opportunity: “I’m super stoked and grateful to be joining Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing. This is an opportunity I’ve worked hard for, and I’m ready to make the most of it.”
With the season set to kick off on January 9, 2027, at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, all eyes will be on Cochran to see how he capitalizes on this transition and integrates into the competitive Yamaha team.
