Malthe Jakobsen to Depart Team Peugeot TotalEnergies Following WEC Monza
Team Peugeot TotalEnergies has announced that the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) 6 Hours of Monza will be Malthe Jakobsen’s final race with the team, marking the end of a notable chapter in the 23-year-old Dane’s career. Jakobsen’s journey with Peugeot began in late 2022, culminating in his full-time role as a driver in 2025 after initial stints as a Junior Driver and reserve.
Jakobsen achieved significant milestones during his tenure, including securing Peugeot’s inaugural WEC pole position at Spa in May. He contributed to a podium finish at Lone Star Le Mans with the #94 crew in 2025. Reflecting on his time with the team, Jakobsen stated, “Racing in Monza… is something special after four unbelievable years… I want to finish this weekend’s race on a high!”
Olivier Jansonnie, Stellantis’ motorsport director, praised Jakobsen’s development, expressing pride in his achievements and wishing him success in future endeavors. The team also recently announced the inclusion of Alex Quinn and Robert Shwartzman in their driver line-up for 2027, coinciding with Jakobsen’s departure following Monza.
Jakobsen already has a confirmed programme for the 2027 WEC season, set to be announced soon.
As Peugeot transitions its driver line-up, attention turns to the upcoming race in Monza, which marks the end of the current WEC season.
