Norris Aims to Regain Confidence Ahead of Miami Grand Prix
As the F1 circus heads to Miami, Lando Norris acknowledges the need to recalibrate his mindset after a challenging start to the season. Currently sitting behind teammate Oscar Piastri, who leads the championship following three victories in four races, Norris is focusing on trusting his own speed and reducing self-imposed pressures.
At the recent Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Norris faced adversity after a qualifying crash but made a commendable recovery from tenth on the grid to finish fourth. This came on the heels of a third-place finish in Bahrain, both marked by subpar qualifying performances. “I want to be on pole, I want to win, I want to be perfect,” Norris stated. He reflected on the pitfalls of his perfectionism, noting, “I need to accept that I’m not going to be perfect, and I’m making mistakes because I’m trying to be perfect.”
Despite the high expectations he places on himself, Norris conveyed optimism about his potential. “My speed in Saudi Arabia and every race this season has been the best,” he asserted, confident that improved Saturday performances could yield race victories.
He recognizes the dual nature of his self-critical approach, stating, “I’ve always been very hard on myself… but I’ve learned to utilize it in a good way.” With recent experiences shaping his mindset positively, Norris aims to channel pressure constructively as he heads into the Miami race weekend.
Currently, Norris remains engaged in finding balance, stating, “I know that I’m going to make mistakes… but I’m excited and confident that I can go out and do a good job every weekend.”
