ELMS Free Practice 2 Results: Cairoli Leads LMP2; Ferrari Dominates LMGT3

Paul Ricard, France – Matteo Cairoli continued his strong performance in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) Free Practice 2, setting a session-best time of 1:49.736 in the #9 ORECA for Iron Lynx – Proton. Although it fell short of his previous day’s time of 1:49.0, it was sufficient to maintain a three-tenths advantage over his competitors in the LMP2 category.

VDS Panis Racing’s Charles Milesi secured second place with a time of 1:50.047, while Inter Europol Competition’s #43 rounded out the top three with a time of 1:50.0. The defending Barcelona class champions, #28 IDEC Sport ORECA, ended the session in fourth, with AO By TF’s LMP2 Pro/Am entry completing the top five at 1:50.309.

In LMP3, CLX Motorsport’s #17 Ligier JS P325 led the field with Adrien Closmenil clocking in at 1:59.539, just 0.173 seconds ahead of Griffin Peebles in the #12 WTM by Rinaldi Duqueine D09.

The LMGT3 class was dominated by Ferraris, with Richard Mille AF Corse’s #50 296 driven by Lilou Wadoux setting the fastest lap at 2:03.621. GR Racing followed closely in second, only 0.006 seconds behind, while Kessel Racing’s Ben Tuck secured third with a time of 2:03.798.

The session was mostly uninterrupted, marked only by two brief Full Course Yellows. ELMS Qualifying is set to commence at 14:20 local time, promising an eventful contest for pole position.
