Hamilton Showcases Exclusive Richard Mille Timepiece at 2025 Spanish Grand Prix
Barcelona, Spain — Lewis Hamilton has made headlines ahead of the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix by donning a $1.535 million Richard Mille RM 43-01 Ferrari Tourbillon Split-Seconds Chronograph during media day. With only 75 pieces available globally, the watch exemplifies luxury and exclusivity, a fitting accessory for Hamilton, who recently joined the Scuderia Ferrari team.
Hamilton’s partnership with Richard Mille marks a continuation of Ferrari’s collaboration with the prestigious Swiss watchmaker, following the successful RM UP-01. The RM 43-01 features a manual-winding tourbillon movement and a sophisticated split-seconds chronograph, composed of 514 components inspired by Ferrari’s engine design, including metal pieces that parallel the architecture of a Ferrari crankcase.
In recent comments, Hamilton reflected on his evolution through the sport, stating, "Just before I got to Formula 1, I remember being looked up and down by a boss… I definitely wasn’t impressed with what I was wearing." His journey from humble beginnings in fashion to becoming a style icon in motorsports reflects broader changes in the culture of Formula 1.
The transition to Richard Mille began in 2021 when Ferrari ended its partnership with Hublot. Notably, Hamilton previously sported IWC Schaffhausen watches, which included a limited-edition model priced at £143,000—substantially less than his current choice.
However, wearing such high-value items comes with risks. In 2022, fellow Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc had a Richard Mille watch, worth approximately $320,000, stolen during an encounter with fans, highlighting the potential dangers drivers face with luxury accessories.
As the Spanish Grand Prix approaches, the spotlight remains firmly on Hamilton, who continues to blend high performance on the track with a distinctive style off it.
