Miami Grand Prix Secures Long-Term Future on Formula 1 Calendar
The Miami Grand Prix has solidified its status as a mainstay on the Formula 1 calendar with a landmark 10-year contract extension, ensuring its presence until at least 2041. This agreement follows the race’s inaugural event in 2022 and its rapid evolution into a prominent fixture, with last year’s event drawing over 250,000 fans and generating more than $1 billion in economic impact over its first three years.
F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali expressed his enthusiasm for the extension: “In just three years, the Miami Grand Prix has established itself as one of the most important and spectacular events on our calendar, exemplifying the ambition of Formula 1 in the United States. This agreement is a strategic milestone that strengthens our presence in America.”
Miami, recognized as a vibrant global sporting hub, has positioned itself as a key location on the F1 schedule, joining the Circuit of The Americas in Austin and the newly added Las Vegas Grand Prix. The extended contract, according to managing partner Tom Garfinkel, underscores the race’s solid growth trajectory: “Securing this extension is a testament to our team’s hard work and the strength of our partnerships. The Miami Grand Prix is here to stay.”
This latest agreement coincides with similar contract renewals, such as that of the Mexican Grand Prix, ensuring both events retain permanent slots on the calendar amid changes affecting the Belgian Grand Prix’s status. As F1 continues to expand its footprint in the U.S., the Miami Grand Prix stands as a key driver of this growth, poised for further development and innovation in the years ahead.
