Alpine Confirms 2026 Driver Line-Up: Colapinto and Gasly Set to Race Together
Alpine Racing has officially announced its driver line-up for the 2026 Formula 1 season, confirming that Franco Colapinto will continue to partner Pierre Gasly. The announcement came during the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, solidifying Colapinto’s role following his appointment as a reserve driver earlier this season.
Colapinto stepped in for Jack Doohan after the Miami Grand Prix, and his performances have shown marked improvement against Gasly in the latter half of the season. Alpine executive advisor Flavio Briatore praised Colapinto’s attributes, stating, “Our decision to continue together for 2026 is a clear indication of our commitment and strong support for Franco as he develops as a race driver.”
The announcement was strategically timed, aligning with Colapinto’s proximity to his home country, Argentina, and reflects the team’s confidence in his potential. Briatore emphasized the importance of having both drivers “help put the team in the best possible position for next season,” highlighting the blend of experience and talent expected to push Alpine forward.
Colapinto expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating, “It has been a long and tough road… to drive with this team again in 2026 is something I am very proud of.” He acknowledged Gasly as a valuable teammate from whom he can continue to learn.
As the season progresses, only the Red Bull seat alongside Max Verstappen and two seats at Racing Bulls remain unconfirmed for 2026. This announcement ensures Alpine maintains continuity in its driver line-up as they prepare for future challenges.
