Aston Martin F1 Team Launches Driver Academy with Mari Boya as First Recruit
The Aston Martin Formula 1 Team has announced the initiation of its driver academy, with Spaniard Mari Boya as its inaugural recruit. Boya, a noteworthy talent in the FIA Formula 3, has previously secured three Spanish karting championships and will benefit from a comprehensive development program designed to assist him on the F1 feeder series ladder.
Team Principal Andy Cowell expressed enthusiasm about Boya’s addition, stating, "He is a promising talent with a strong track record, natural speed, and a determined mindset." Cowell emphasized the academy’s commitment to cultivating a well-rounded driver, focusing not just on racecraft but also on media training, fitness, and personal growth.
The Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 Team Driver Academy aims to identify and nurture exceptional driving talent from karting levels onward, paralleling initiatives from other leading F1 teams. Cowell articulated the purpose of the program: “Guiding young talent through some of the most challenging and competitive phases of their careers is not only a privilege, but a shared passion across the entire team.”
In response, Boya remarked, “Joining the Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team Driver Academy is a dream come true. It’s a unique opportunity to learn from a team with so much ambition in Formula 1.” He added that he aims to absorb knowledge and contribute effectively, highlighting the inspiring environment of the AMR Technology Campus.
Boya will compete in the upcoming Austria F3 round at the Red Bull Ring, currently positioned 13th in the standings with a podium finish from Monaco’s feature race and a previous win in Barcelona’s reversed-grid sprint last season.
