Incident at the Red Bull Ring: Tow Truck Collision Delays Porsche Supercup Race

Red Bull Ring, Austria – June 29, 2025: A tow truck collided with an advertising board on the second straight of the Red Bull Ring, causing a disruption during the race weekend. The incident occurred while the truck was returning a Formula 2 car to the pit lane.

Track management swiftly dispatched support vehicles to address the damaged advertising structure. As a result, the Porsche Supercup race, scheduled for 11:45 AM local time, was delayed. By 12:19 PM CET, an announcement confirmed the situation had been resolved with the message “clear in track sector 4,” indicating no further interruptions would impact the upcoming Formula 1 Grand Prix.

This incident follows a grass fire during Formula 1’s Q1, ignited when Lewis Hamilton ran wide on the final corner exit. Marshals quickly extinguished the flames, leading to a brief red flag. In response, precautions were taken to dampen the surrounding grass to prevent any further fire hazards.

The Formula 1 Grand Prix is set to commence at 3:00 PM local time, featuring Lando Norris on pole after a standout qualifying session where he outpaced Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc by five tenths. Oscar Piastri and Lewis Hamilton will start from third and fourth positions, respectively.

The event sees heightened scrutiny as both incidents raise concerns about on-track safety protocols and infrastructure resilience.
