Austrian Grand Prix Secures Long-Term Formula 1 Deal Until 2041
The Austrian Grand Prix has cemented its future in Formula 1 by signing a long-term contract that will keep the race at the Red Bull Ring through 2041. This extension marks a significant commitment to one of the sport’s cherished venues.
First held at the Red Bull Ring in 2014, the Austrian Grand Prix has played a pivotal role in the F1 calendar, notably hosting multiple races during the disrupted COVID-19 seasons of 2020 and 2021. This agreement aligns with F1’s strategy to secure extended partnerships with select race locations, including a similar deal for the Miami Grand Prix.
F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali emphasized the importance of Austria within the sport, stating, "Austria has long been an incredibly special race for Formula 1 so it’s fantastic we have secured the long-term future of a Grand Prix so deeply rooted in the sport’s history." He credited the late Dietrich Mateschitz for his significant contributions to the event’s revival.
Mark Mateschitz, son of Dietrich, expressed delight in the continued association with F1, affirming, "I am proud to continue my father’s legacy and to preserve the rich history of motor racing in Styria." He indicated that the new contract would lead to further investment in the circuit’s infrastructure.
As F1 consolidates its presence in key markets, the Austrian Grand Prix remains a vital asset, offering unique experiences in the picturesque Styrian mountains for drivers, teams, and fans alike. The extension of this partnership reflects both the circuit’s historical significance and its forward-looking vision within the championship.
