Brad Pitt Drives APXGP Fantasy Cars Ahead of F1 Film Release
In anticipation of the upcoming Formula 1-themed film, F1, actor Brad Pitt has shared insights from his experience driving the fictional APXGP cars, which are based on a Formula 2 chassis but sport Formula 1-inspired bodywork. The vehicles were developed in collaboration with Mercedes, highlighting significant technological advancements in the film’s production.
Pitt, who plays the character Sonny Hayes, described his time behind the wheel as "awesome." He emphasized the unique thrill of the high-speed performance, stating, “It is such a high. It is unlike any high I’ve ever experienced before.” He recounted the intense learning curve required for mastering the vehicle’s capabilities, particularly the importance of trusting the car’s braking and handling.
“The car will do it. The car will stick to the ground. The car will brake,” Pitt noted. He highlighted the astonishing ability of the car to decelerate from 180 mph to 40 mph effectively at the designated braking markers.
Pitt further elaborated on the handling dynamics in high-speed corners, remarking, “The more you put into them, the more it gets compacted to the ground, the better it sticks.” He described achieving speeds that felt overwhelmingly powerful, saying, “It was staggeringly awesome what these cars can do.”
Recently, Pitt experienced driving a 2023 McLaren MCL60 for the first time during a private test at the Circuit of the Americas, home of the United States Grand Prix, further immersing himself in the world of F1.
As excitement builds for the film’s release, the combination of Hollywood and high-performance motorsport paves the way for a unique cinematic experience that has already caught the attention of fans and industry insiders alike.
