Cadillac Sets Ambitious Goals for Formula 1 Debut in 2026
Cadillac is poised to enter Formula 1 in 2026, marking a significant expansion of the grid to eleven teams—the first new addition in a decade. With robust resources at its disposal, team principal Graeme Lowdon underscores the organization’s limitless ambitions despite the uncertainties surrounding the new regulations.
“Predicting championship performance is impossible right now,” Lowdon stated. “None of us know where we’re going to be.” He emphasized the importance of internal execution and the team’s capacity to maximize their performance envelope, existing within the constraints of the cost cap.
Lowdon acknowledged the challenges of entering a highly competitive environment dominated by established teams. “You can’t just show up and beat teams that have been doing this for years. We respect those teams immensely.”
Dan Towriss, CEO of TWG Motorsports, aligns with Lowdon’s vision, projecting a five-year timeline to be competitive for podium finishes and potential championship contention. “Whether with a Cadillac or Ferrari engine, our focus is on the development of the car,” Towriss noted.
Both leaders recognize that while their starting performance in 2026 may be unclear, hiring experienced personnel and maintaining a strategic approach to development will be crucial. “We have a blank sheet of paper—we can build this team any way you want,” added Towriss, emphasizing the significance of their ability to adapt and improve swiftly once data is available.
As Cadillac embarks on this ambitious journey, the motorsports community will watch closely to see how effectively they can establish themselves in the fiercely competitive realm of Formula 1.
