F1 Extends Canadian Grand Prix Contract to 2035

Formula 1 has officialized a new contract with the promoters of the Canadian Grand Prix, extending the Montreal race’s place on the schedule until 2035. The agreement also incorporates an extension of Bell Media’s media rights, enhancing the race’s prominence in the motorsports landscape.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali expressed enthusiasm about the announcement, noting, “As Formula 1 celebrates its 75th anniversary, it is fitting… to extend this race, which has such incredible history.” He specifically praised the city’s vibrant atmosphere and engaged fan base, recognizing the efforts of Octane Racing Group, the race promoters, in upgrading the event.

Race head Jean-Philippe Paradis commented, “We are incredibly proud to confirm… another decade of world-class racing.” This renewal underscores the event’s heritage and cultural significance, emphasizing its global stature.

In a strategic move, the Grand Prix will shift its traditional June date to late May, aligning closer to the Miami Grand Prix. This change aims to bolster operational efficiencies, an area identified for improvement after the event faced logistical challenges.

Paradis, who took over from longtime promoter François Dumontier last year, outlined a three-year plan to enhance the event. This includes introducing expanded hospitality areas and new access routes to address traffic congestion. He stated, “There’s a path for us to get there, and we wanted to showcase that there is some improvement.”

As F1 continues to grow its international footprint, the renewed Canadian Grand Prix contract signals a commitment to enriching the racing experience for fans and stakeholders alike.
