Racing Stars Football Cup Raises Funds for Charity Ahead of Monaco Grand Prix

Monaco, May 21 – The annual Racing Stars Football Cup took place at the Stade Louis II, uniting current and former Formula 1 drivers alongside celebrities in a charity match, preceding the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix. While local favorite Charles Leclerc launched the event, he did not participate in the game.

Mika Hakkinen, two-time F1 World Champion, served as the event’s ambassador, stating, “I was honoured and thrilled to support this initiative, especially since it aids two meaningful causes.” Proceeds will benefit the Jules Bianchi Association and Be Safe Monaco, both linked to motorsports.

The Jules Bianchi Association, established after the late F1 driver’s tragic passing in 2015, supports the Archet Hospital in Nice. Philippe Bianchi, Jules’s father, expressed deep appreciation for the event, which honors his son’s legacy.

Camille Gottlieb, founder of Be Safe Monaco, emphasized the event’s impact: “Having personalities from motorsport helps amplify our message about the dangers of drinking and driving.”

The match featured a team of F1 drivers led by Alpine’s Pierre Gasly, alongside Carlos Sainz (Williams), Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), and rookie drivers Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Oliver Bearman. They faced the Barbagiuans, a team comprising sports legends.

The event not only entertained but also highlighted significant social causes, reinforcing the motorsport community’s commitment to philanthropy.
