F1 Monaco Preview: Colapinto Seeks Confidence After Challenging Imola Debut

Monaco, 2025 – Alpine F1 driver Franco Colapinto is gearing up for the Monaco Grand Prix, aiming to bolster his confidence as he navigates one of Formula 1’s most demanding circuits. After making his debut at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, where he finished 16th following a qualifying crash and strategic setbacks, Colapinto believes accumulating race experience will be crucial for improvement.

The 21-year-old Argentinian faced challenges at Imola that highlighted the gap between simulator experience and real-world racing dynamics in the Alpine A525. "I need to build up the confidence, and that’s coming with laps," Colapinto stated. "I’ve only had four hours in the car, while many others have competed in multiple races this year."

Monaco’s tight and technical layout demands high confidence from drivers, particularly as they brush against barriers. "It’s not straightforward, especially for me after just one race weekend," Colapinto acknowledged. He anticipates that practice sessions will help him find his footing: "I started far off in FP1 at Imola but improved significantly by FP3."

Addressing the online hostility some drivers have faced, including his colleagues Jack Doohan and Yuki Tsunoda, Colapinto urged fans to exercise respect. "I try to calm them down and help them understand that it’s not right to be aggressive," he remarked. "Passion is good, but it should not cross into disrespect."

As the Monaco Grand Prix approaches, Colapinto’s focus remains on gaining experience and confidence, aiming for a stronger showing to enhance his and Alpine’s prospects this season.
