British F4 to Debut at Silverstone During British Grand Prix Weekend

For the first time, the British Formula 4 Championship will feature alongside Formula 1, Formula 2, and Formula 3 at the British Grand Prix, taking place from July 4-6. This historic inclusion follows the addition of non-championship British F4 races to the event schedule, a goal long pursued by championship promoter Motorsport UK.

Two 25-minute races, slightly longer than the typical 20-minute formats, will be contested. Participation is limited to teams already registered for the 2023 British F4 season, ensuring a competitive grid.

Championship manager Eve Lake-Grange expressed enthusiasm, stating, “It goes without saying that this is a real milestone moment for everyone involved with the F4 British Championship certified by FIA. Competing on the support bill of Formula 1 at the British Grand Prix is something we’ve been working towards for a long time.”

The British Grand Prix will also serve as the second event for British F4 on the Silverstone GP layout this year, following its participation in the C1 24 Hours earlier this month.

Lake-Grange further highlighted the significance of the event: “We pride ourselves on being the first step on the pathway to Formula 1. For our drivers to see the potential career roadmap during their competition weekend will be both special and inspiring.”

The level of interest in this non-championship event has been strong, with expectations for a competitive lineup poised to captivate the large audience at Silverstone. As the F4 Championship continues to serve as a feeder for aspiring Formula 1 drivers, this milestone reinforces its commitment to developing talent in motorsports.
