Formula 1 Secures Long-Term Deal for Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring Until 2041
Formula 1 has solidified its commitment to the Red Bull Ring by extending the Austrian Grand Prix contract through 2041. This marks the venue as one of only two tracks on the calendar with agreements lasting into the 2040s, alongside Miami, which also recently secured a similar extension.
This development continues F1’s trend of long-term agreements, following Canada’s contract renewal until at least 2035. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali emphasized Austria’s historical significance to the sport, stating, “Austria has long been an incredibly special race for Formula 1,” and credited the late Dietrich Mateschitz for revitalizing the event.
Since its reintroduction in 2014, the Red Bull Ring has emerged as a fan favorite, contributing to an engaging atmosphere often highlighted for its stunning backdrop in the Styrian mountains. The facility’s roots trace back to its debut in 1964, with a complex history of interruptions until its current status as the Red Bull Ring after significant renovations initiated by Mateschitz in 2010.
Mark Mateschitz, the son of the late Red Bull founder, expressed pride in continuing his father’s legacy and reaffirmed the region’s strong ties with Formula 1, stating, “I am delighted that Formula 1 will remain at the Red Bull Ring for many years to come.”
As F1 gears up for future seasons, this long-term commitment reflects the series’ dedication to maintaining key venues that enhance the championship’s global appeal and continuity.
