F1 Movie Premiere Highlights With Fashion Critique

The world premiere of the highly anticipated F1 movie in New York’s Times Square attracted significant attention from Formula 1 fans and the motorsports industry. With Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, and other stars present, the event was a blend of cinema and racing culture, though not all fashion choices were met with acclaim.

Critically acclaimed menswear commentator Derek Guy took to social media to express his disappointment with the sartorial choices of several F1 drivers present at the premiere. In a detailed critique, Guy noted that the drivers’ outfits, while bold, often missed the mark in terms of fit and style.

Liam Lawson drew specific criticism for his pinstripe suit and white business shirt. Guy stated, "A pinstripe suit with a white business shirt cries out for a tie… Additionally, the shoes are too chunky for this outfit," emphasizing issues of tailoring and proportion.

Yuki Tsunoda faced similar scrutiny; Guy remarked, "The outfit is just too large… the proportions on the jacket are also strange." Despite the critique, he commended Tsunoda for his adventurous approach.

While Pierre Gasly was considered "the best of the group," Guy noted, "the jacket is too short and the pants are too slim, causing them to catch on his legs," suggesting improvements in both fit and style could enhance his appearance.

Isack Hadjar and Gabriel Bortoleto also attracted critique for footwear choices that fell flat.

In contrast, Guy praised Brad Pitt and others for adhering to classic tailoring principles, noting, "Their outfits follow basic tailoring principles: jackets bisect halfway from collar to floor."

Following its successful premiere, F1 is set for a global release on June 25 and will be in U.S. theaters two days later. Directed by Joseph Kosinski and with contributions from Hamilton, the film is poised to be a summer blockbuster.
