Ferrari Faces Challenges Ahead of 2025 Imola GP

As the 2025 Imola Grand Prix approaches, Ferrari’s performance continues to draw scrutiny. Team principal Frederic Vasseur reaffirmed the current engineering setup remains unchanged from previous years, admitting, "We’ve made some mistakes with the car, but we know where to improve."

Ferrari currently sits fourth in the Constructors’ Championship, trailing leaders McLaren by 152 points. The SF-25’s performance has been a focal point of criticism, leading to questions about the team’s technical leadership and the effectiveness of the existing staff.

Vasseur addressed these concerns directly, emphasizing that technical director Loïc Serra, who joined from Mercedes last October, took over a project already 90% defined. "When Loic arrived, the key decisions behind the project had already been made," Vasseur stated. While he acknowledged perceived shortcomings in the SF-25, he expressed confidence in the team’s capabilities to "identify and solve problems."

Vasseur confirmed that abandoning development of the SF-25 in favor of the 2026 project is not on the agenda, noting that significant updates are expected for the Spanish Grand Prix. "We often end race weekends with the feeling that we haven’t extracted the maximum from the car," he observed, indicating there remains potential for improvement.

Overall, as Ferrari navigates these technical challenges, Vasseur’s focus on continuous development and team cohesion aims to elevate performance ahead of the upcoming race.
