Gasly Signs Long-Term Deal with Alpine Through 2028
Pierre Gasly has officially extended his contract with Alpine, committing to the team until the end of the 2028 season. The French driver, who joined Alpine from AlphaTauri in 2023, has quickly become an integral part of the organization, securing a podium finish in his inaugural season at Zandvoort and contributing to a double-podium at Interlagos in 2024. He currently stands as the team’s sole points scorer this season, bringing in all 20 of Alpine’s points.
Despite finishing tenth in the drivers’ championship last year, Gasly expressed confidence in Alpine’s trajectory, especially with the transition to a Mercedes power unit planned for the upcoming season. “I’m thrilled to commit my long-term future to Alpine,” Gasly remarked. “As a Frenchman driving for a French car company, it makes me proud. Since I joined, I’ve always believed this team is the right place for my future.”
Flavio Briatore, a key figure at Alpine, emphasized Gasly’s role as the team’s lead driver amid a lineup that includes rookies Jack Doohan and Franco Colapinto. “We’re well prepared for the new era of Formula 1, beginning in 2026, and now we have our lead driver confirmed,” Briatore stated. He praised Gasly’s contributions during a challenging period, highlighting his dedication and talent.
This long-term deal signifies Alpine’s commitment to building a competitive team capable of challenging for victories and world championships in the coming years.
