Haas F1 Team Announces TPC Test for Sho Tsuboi

The Haas Formula 1 team has confirmed that reigning Super Formula champion Sho Tsuboi will participate in a two-day test of the VF-23 at Fuji Speedway on August 6-7. This will be Tsuboi’s first experience with F1 machinery, following his title victory with the Toyota-backed TOM’S team last year.

Tsuboi will join Haas reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa for the test, marking a significant step in Haas’s collaboration with Toyota, initiated last year. Tsuboi expressed his gratitude on social media: “Thank you to Team Haas and TGR for giving me this wonderful opportunity. I’m very much looking forward to driving the F1 car.”

Hirakawa has previously driven for Haas in multiple practice sessions earlier this season, while Tsuboi’s predecessor as Super Formula champion, Ritomo Miyata, also sampled the VF-23 earlier this year.

Currently, Tsuboi ranks third in the Super Formula standings, trailing behind Tadasuke Makino and Kakunoshin Ohta, as he prepares for the upcoming races at Fuji. Additionally, he leads the Super GT standings, aiming for his fourth title in five years.
