Hamilton Reflects on Loss and Prepares for Singapore Grand Prix

Singapore, October 2023 – Lewis Hamilton is poised for the Singapore Grand Prix amid personal grief following the death of his dog, Roscoe, who passed away at 12 due to pneumonia. The seven-time world champion garnered substantial support from fans and fellow drivers after announcing his loss on Sunday.

Hamilton shared, “I’ve received lots of messages. It’s overwhelming to see how many people Roscoe touched around the world. It was a very difficult experience for me.” He emphasized the bond shared with pets and expressed gratitude for the overwhelming empathy displayed by supporters over the past week.

As Hamilton gears up for his first podium with Ferrari, he remains focused on performance, despite a disappointing eighth-place finish in Baku. “I definitely feel optimistic for this weekend,” he stated, acknowledging the learning curve from recent races and expressing faith in the team’s progress.

Hamilton noted, “The execution wasn’t perfect in the last race, but we’ve learned why that was, and I believe we will have a better approach this weekend.” He anticipated challenges, recognizing the speed of competitors like Red Bull and McLaren, and highlighted the importance of a strong qualifying performance.

“This weekend’s qualifying is key, so that will be the focus,” he concluded, as he aims to capitalize on previous insights and secure a better result.
