Vasseur Receives Backing Amid Exit Rumors

In a show of solidarity, Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner and McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown have publicly supported Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur, who is reportedly facing speculation about his future with the Scuderia. This follows Italian media reports suggesting that Vasseur’s position may be precarious just months into his tenure, which began at the start of the 2023 season.

During a press conference at Silverstone, Horner emphasized the importance of stability in Formula 1 operations. “Fred is a very capable manager,” he stated, highlighting the unique pressures associated with leading a prestigious team like Ferrari. “It takes time to put the right processes in place, the right people, the right culture.”

Brown echoed Horner’s sentiments, praising Vasseur’s expertise and competitive spirit. “I’m a Fred fan,” he remarked, noting Vasseur’s impressive resume and his near-miss at winning the championship last year.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff also chimed in, advocating for patience in leadership roles within the sport. “In Formula 1, you can’t buy time,” Wolff stated, referencing Jean Todt’s long-term management at Ferrari, which ultimately led to championship success after years of development. He emphasized the necessity of giving leaders the space to cultivate their teams effectively.

As the F1 landscape continues to evolve, the support from Horner, Brown, and Wolff reinforces the notion that successful team dynamics require time and resilience.
