Barrichello Dominates at NASCAR Brazil’s Interlagos Round
Former Formula 1 driver Rubens Barrichello showcased his racing prowess at the NASCAR Brazil event in Interlagos, clinching victories in both races over the weekend. This achievement marks his return to the top of the podium at the iconic circuit for the first time since 1990, during his days in South American Formula 3.
Barrichello, who retired from F1 in 2011, began his NASCAR Brazil career in 2025. His triumphs in the third round of the series came after an impressive performance, with wins on both Saturday and Sunday.
Reflecting on his victories, the 52-year-old stated, “Interlagos, for me, is a joy. I’ve been driving here since 1990. The tow here has a big impact.” He also noted the competitive spirit that drives him: “It’s a great joy to fight with all your strength for a victory you’ve always dreamed of, and this weekend it came in double doses.”
Despite facing challenges in the previous two years of the Stock Car Pro series—finishing 7th in 2023 and 14th in 2024—Barrichello has found renewed vigor in the NASCAR circuit, having a difficult start to the 2025 season now turned around with back-to-back wins.
Looking ahead, Barrichello confirmed he would miss the upcoming NASCAR round due to commitments at Le Mans, where his son, Eduardo, will compete in the World Endurance Championship. However, he expressed his willingness to assist if needed: “I’ll take my helmet and if something happens…”
As Barrichello approaches his 53rd birthday, his passion and determination in motorsports remain strong. He concluded, “The love I have for my profession, along with gratitude, make me a balanced person.”
This latest success adds another chapter to Barrichello’s storied career, solidifying his status as a persistent and influential figure in motorsports.
