F1 Drivers Attend Film Premiere After Canadian GP
New York City — Following the Canadian Grand Prix, 15 of Formula 1’s 20 drivers made their way to Manhattan for the premiere of the highly anticipated film F1, featuring Brad Pitt. The event took place at Radio City Music Hall, where drivers mingled with celebrity guests, including Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee and musician John Mayer.
Notably absent was Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli, who opted to return to Italy for final school exams after securing his first podium finish. Championship leader Oscar Piastri had prior commitments with McLaren across the United States, while Max Verstappen returned home to celebrate the birth of his daughter before testing a GT3 car at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.
Both Aston Martin drivers, Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso, also skipped the event. The drivers had previously attended a private screening in Monaco; however, Verstappen and Stroll missed that as well and will watch the film independently.
Post-premiere, Lewis Hamilton participated in a stage event with the film’s producers and made a striking appearance in a Dior outfit complemented by a diamond and ruby-encrusted brooch. Following the red carpet, the group took photographs at Top of the Rock against the famous Manhattan skyline, before heading to an after party at Cipriani.
Despite the glamor of the evening, none of the drivers screened the film at the New York event. It is reported that Verstappen’s character receives a mention during a radio exchange in the film.
This narrative continues to build anticipation around the film’s release and the intersection of cinema and motorsport, drawing attention from fans and industry stakeholders alike.
