Monaco Preview: Andrea Kimi Antonelli on F1 Film Screening
Monaco, May 25, 2023 – Ahead of the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix, Mercedes F1 rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli attended a private screening of the upcoming Formula 1 movie, directed by Joseph Kosinski. The screening featured notable figures such as Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, and George Russell, with only Max Verstappen and Lance Stroll absent.
The film stars Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a retired F1 driver re-entering the sport alongside Joshua Pearce, portrayed by Damson Idris. Antonelli praised the film’s production quality, stating, “I think it was pretty cool. It was long but really well made. I think people will really like it.”
The film, slated for global release on June 25, promises to present an authentic portrayal of F1, integrating real-world Grand Prix environments into its shooting schedule. The APXGP team was granted access to a dedicated garage and equipment, enhancing the film’s credibility.
At just 18, Antonelli is the third youngest driver to debut in F1 and previously became the youngest pole sitter in a sprint race at the 2025 Miami Grand Prix. His rise is documented in the Netflix series The Seat, highlighting his ascension within the Mercedes team under Toto Wolff’s leadership.
With the Monaco Grand Prix weekend rapidly approaching, the motorsport community eagerly anticipates both the film’s release and the race’s unfolding drama.
