Hamilton Maintains Optimism Amid Challenging Start at Ferrari
Lewis Hamilton remains positive about his future with Ferrari despite a disappointing onset of the 2025 Formula 1 season. Moving from Mercedes—which yielded six world championships—Hamilton is currently seventh in the standings, with only a single sprint race victory in Shanghai to celebrate.
At the recent Miami Grand Prix, Hamilton delivered a mixed performance, finishing third in the sprint but dropping to eighth in the main race after qualifying in 12th. "I feel optimistic for the future," Hamilton stated post-race. He acknowledged the car’s potential but noted issues that have hindered performance since Round 2. “We’ve lost performance since China… it’s just we can’t use it,” he explained.
Hamilton’s race highlighted internal team conflicts, as both he and teammate Charles Leclerc navigated closely during the event, complicating strategy and performance. Leclerc himself faced frustrations, finishing seventh in Miami after a pre-race crash curtailed his sprint ambitions. He emphasized the need for improvements, stating, “Yes, we need to fix those issues… but we need to make it better as a car.”
The team’s struggles have raised questions ahead of the Imola race, where Leclerc expressed hope for a stronger showing but remained pessimistic about the subsequent Monaco race, stating, “I don’t think we’ve got a car to be great there.”
With a series of races upcoming, both drivers are tasked with extracting maximum performance from a car that has shown potential but has consistently underperformed thus far.
