Kevin Turner: A Leader in Motorsports Journalism
Kevin Turner has established himself as a pivotal figure in motorsports journalism. Currently serving as Chief Editor at Autosport, he has been integral in shaping the publication’s content strategy and navigating the challenges posed by recent global events.
Turner’s journey began while studying History at the University of York, where he started covering UK club events as a freelance reporter for Autosport and Motorsport News. His career took a significant turn in 2006 when he joined Autosport as an Editorial Assistant—a role that would lead to the prestigious Motorsport UK Young Journalist of the Year Award. In 2008, Turner ascended to the position of National Editor, showcasing his versatility by covering prominent international races, including the Le Mans 24 Hours and various championships like the British Touring Car Championship and British GT.
By 2014, Turner transitioned to edit Motorsport News before returning to Autosport in 2016 as the magazine’s editor. His leadership was solidified when he became Chief Editor in 2020, where he played a crucial role in content planning amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Notably, Turner oversaw the publication of a special issue marking 70 years of Autosport, illustrating his capacity for innovation and adaptation within the industry.
Additionally, he has contributed to the motorsports community as a judge for the Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver Award since 2008, fostering the next generation of racing talent.
Turner continues to reside in Warboys with his family, balancing his professional ambitions with his personal life. His commitment to excellence in motorsports journalism remains unwavering as he leads Autosport into the future.
