Max Verstappen Tests Ferrari 296 GT3 at Nürburgring

Four-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen covertly participated in GT3 testing at the Nürburgring, driving a Ferrari 296 GT3. The Dutch driver, competing under the pseudonym Franz Hermann, aimed to keep his involvement under wraps while other F1 competitors enjoyed a break from racing.

This outing is part of Verstappen’s ongoing interest in GT3 racing, reflected in his ownership of the Verstappen.com team, which competes in the GT World Challenge. His recent track time coincided with testing sessions for the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie.

In a tweet, Verstappen expressed his enjoyment, stating, "Having fun at the Nordschleife."

Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner commented on Verstappen’s drive to explore interests beyond Formula 1, emphasizing, “He doesn’t see himself being a Fernando Alonso or Lewis Hamilton." Horner noted that Verstappen’s passion for driving extends to various categories, including simulators and LMP cars, indicating that he values enjoyment over long-term commitment to any single discipline.

As Horner summarized, “As soon as that enjoyment drops, he’ll go and do something else.” Verstappen’s recent test further illustrates his evolving relationship with motorsport, as he explores new challenges in the GT racing landscape.
