Verstappen Eyes DMSB Nordschleife Permit for GT3 Ambitions
Max Verstappen, the four-time Formula 1 champion, is reportedly pursuing a DMSB Nordschleife permit, essential for competing in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie and the 24-hour race. This development follows his recent participation in a GT3 test at the Nürburgring, where he drove a Ferrari 296 GT3 under the pseudonym "Franz Hermann" before revealing his involvement.
Verstappen has expressed a longstanding passion for motorsport beyond Formula 1, indicating a strong desire to venture into GT racing post-F1. In his own words, he stated, “When I do something, I want to do it well. I want to win, even with this,” highlighting his competitive spirit and ambition to transition from sim racing to GT3.
His involvement extends to supporting various racing activities through his initiative, Verstappen.com Racing, including entries in DTM and the GTWC Sprint with Thierry Vermeulen. Looking forward, Verstappen stated, "We will start in the GT3 class… if it breaks, we will see where the ship strands."
Plans for establishing a dedicated GT3 team are already in the works. “Next year [2024] will be tight, but I would like to have it as soon as possible. Having a GT3 team in 2025 with a minimum of two cars should be possible,” he affirmed.
As Verstappen progresses towards these new challenges, the motorsports world watches closely, anticipating his potential impact beyond the Formula 1 circuit.
