Zak Brown Engages in Cross-Sport Diplomacy at Wrigley Field

McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown showcased his versatility off the track by participating in a batting practice session at Wrigley Field alongside Cincinnati Reds pitcher Hunter Greene. The event precedes the Reds’ season opener against the Chicago Cubs. Brown donned a custom Reds jersey and a McLaren cap, with pitches delivered by Reds’ first-base coach Collin Cowgill.

In an interview with MLB.com, Brown expressed, “I’m a big baseball guy, possibly more than a racing guy. Through racing, I’ve forged relationships with many baseball players, like Ian Happ and Hunter Greene." He underscored the mutual respect and camaraderie between baseball and motorsports fans.

Greene shared his enthusiasm on social media, stating: “Just two good friends sharing each other’s passions. We both love baseball and very fast cars.”

This engagement comes on the heels of McLaren’s recent triumph at the Monaco Grand Prix, where Lando Norris claimed his first victory and teammate Oscar Piastri secured third place. Following the race, Brown reflected on the team’s performance, stating, “It was a perfect weekend… I reminded Oscar that he’s still leading the championship, so it’s going to get fun in the second half of the year.”

Currently, McLaren leads both the constructors’ and drivers’ championships, with Piastri holding a narrow three-point advantage over Norris. Brown’s enthusiasm for the upcoming races is palpable as McLaren continues to assert its presence in the F1 season.
