Norris Clinches Austrian Grand Prix, Overcomes Montreal Setback

Lando Norris secured his third victory of the season at the Austrian Grand Prix, effectively moving past his recent mishap in Canada that saw him collide with teammate Oscar Piastri. The win capped a competitive race at the Red Bull Ring, where McLaren allowed its drivers to engage in a fierce battle throughout the event.

Norris faced persistent pressure from Piastri, especially during the first stint, where the two exchanged positions multiple times. “Crossing the line at the end – that was the best bit!” Norris remarked following the victory. “It was stressful for sure… But it was a good battle between us – quite a long race from that point onwards because I never had a lovely gap.”

The close racing was a point of pride for Norris, who acknowledged it provided a refreshing contrast to the collision incident in Montreal. “I think we both knew what to expect from each other. We both want to race hard and race fair,” he stated.

This triumph was attributed not only to a flawless race weekend but also to extensive preparation behind the scenes. Norris emphasized his confidence in his performance, stating, “I felt very comfortable and very on top of the car… it’s certainly fulfilling for me.”

His approach included increased work off the track, particularly in the simulator, signifying a commitment to improvement. “I’m trying to improve everything that I can… it’s a good step in the right direction,” he concluded, indicating a desire for continued progress ahead of the upcoming races.
