Qatar Grand Prix Sets Viewership Record
ESPN2’s live broadcast of the Qatar Grand Prix on November 30 achieved a remarkable average audience of 1.4 million viewers, marking the highest viewership ever for the event on U.S. television, according to Nielsen data. The telecast peaked at 1.7 million viewers between 12:00 PM and 12:15 PM ET.
This season, Formula 1 has seen 15 event viewership records set across ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC during its 23 races. The previous record for the Qatar Grand Prix was 990,000 viewers, established in 2024.
Currently, F1 races are averaging 1.3 million viewers, positioning the series to potentially break the all-time U.S. television record average for live races, which stands at 1.21 million viewers set in 2022.
The 2023 season will conclude with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 7, which will air live on ESPN and stream on the ESPN App at 7:55 AM ET. This race marks a significant transition as F1 begins its streaming partnership with Apple TV starting in the 2026 season.
