Formula 1 Retains New Fan Engagement Amid Growing Popularity
Formula 1 (F1) is poised to maintain its newly acquired fanbase, as highlighted by the 2025 Global F1 Fan Survey. The survey indicates a promising 94% of respondents anticipate following the series over the next five years, with particularly high figures from Gen Z (97%) and U.S. audience members (95%).
The survey, which engaged over 100,000 fans, revealed that 39% of participants were introduced to F1 through friends and family. In contrast, 16% credited the Netflix series Drive to Survive as their entry point, demonstrating the diverse channels through which new fans engage with the sport.
Longstanding fans exhibit similar commitments, with 93% of veterans expressing intentions to remain loyal over the next five years. F1’s ability to convert viewership into sustained engagement is critical as it eyes an evolutionary phase in 2026, featuring new regulations for cars utilizing sustainable fuels.
F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali emphasized this trajectory in his remarks: “We are excited about our future… and we know our fans are excited too.” This sentiment underscores F1’s strategy to not only attract but also retain a dynamic and diverse fanbase in an evolving motorsports landscape.
