F1 Celebrates 75 Years with Key Figures at Downing Street
In a significant event marking the 75th anniversary of Formula 1, British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer welcomed 150 prominent figures from the motorsports industry to 10 Downing Street on Wednesday. Among the attendees were F1 President Stefano Domenicali, Liberty Media CEO Derek Chang, and several past and present drivers and team principals, including F1 Academy CEO Susie Wolff.
The celebration underscores the global impact of Formula 1, particularly in the UK, home to nine out of ten current teams and Cadillac’s incoming operations. The sport is reported to contribute approximately £12 billion to the UK economy annually.
Domenicali is set to address the assembly, highlighting the growth of employment opportunities within F1 and the continuing legacy of the sport, which began at Silverstone in 1950.
As the championship progresses, the Silverstone circuit will feature prominently on this year’s calendar, further cementing its historical significance.
