Verstappen Skips F1 Movie Screening Ahead of Monaco Grand Prix
Max Verstappen, the reigning Formula 1 world champion, opted out of a private screening of F1: The Movie organized by Formula One Management (FOM) before the Monaco Grand Prix. The exclusive event on Wednesday night saw 18 of the 20 drivers in attendance, with Verstappen and Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll absent.
Verstappen cited a desire to spend quality time at home, particularly following the recent addition to his family. "I told FOM well in advance that I would not be there that evening. They knew about that," he stated. "It wasn’t a mandatory event… I prefer to spend that private time at home, especially because in Formula 1 you’re away from home so much already."
Stroll, when asked about his absence, commented briefly, "Just stuff. At some point I’ll watch it."
The upcoming film, scheduled for release on June 25 internationally and June 27 in North America, features Brad Pitt and Damson Idris in a fictional story centered around a retired racer making a comeback. Directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, the film aims for authenticity, showcasing actual races filmed in Las Vegas, Abu Dhabi, and Monza.
FOM recently unveiled the final trailer, raising anticipation among fans for the film that aligns with the growing crossover between motorsports and entertainment.
