McLaren’s Dominance Continues as Piastri and Norris Thrill at 2025 Season

In a season marked by McLaren’s commanding performance, CEO Zak Brown confirmed the stability and commitment of drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, both contracted long-term with the team. As McLaren sets a significant 207-point lead in the Constructors’ Championship, Brown remains unfazed by ongoing speculation surrounding rival teams.

The latest chapter unfolded at the Austrian Grand Prix, where Piastri and Norris engaged in a spirited battle for the lead. Though McLaren faced a podium miss in Canada due to a late collision between the two drivers, their dynamic at the Red Bull Ring showcased both skill and respect, aligned with McLaren’s ‘Papaya Rules’ established last season, permitting head-to-head racing barring detrimental outcomes for the team.

“It’s the same rules. Race each other hard, race each other clean,” Brown stated, highlighting the competitive yet amicable relationship fostered between the two drivers. “They raced each other very hard, very clean. It was a great race.”

During a press conference at the British Grand Prix, Brown emphasized the mutual chemistry within the team, expressing confidence that both Piastri and Norris could battle fiercely without compromising their camaraderie. He remarked, “I see no reason why they can’t have a big battle all the way to the end. May the best man win.”

While Brown confidently dismissed the need to explore alternative lineup options, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner humorously suggested Piastri as a potential recruit should Max Verstappen’s future shift. “Oscar Piastri,” quipped Horner, eliciting a smile from Brown amid the discussion of driver futures.

As the 2025 season progresses, McLaren’s strategic focus remains clear: capitalize on their competitive advantage while nurturing the on-track relationship between their star drivers, setting the stage for an enthralling title fight.
