Haas F1 Team Maintains Strong Ownership Amid Acquisition Interest
As the Haas F1 Team embarks on its tenth season, team principal Ayao Komatsu has disclosed a surge in inquiries from potential buyers. However, Gene Haas remains committed to the team, dismissing these overtures, according to Komatsu. “He’s not interested in selling at all,” stated Komatsu, emphasizing Haas’s deep engagement and passion for Formula 1.
Last season marked a resounding comeback for Haas, finishing seventh in the Constructors’ Championship with 58 points, a stark contrast to the previous year’s 12 points and last-place finish. This resurgence led to the decision not to renew former team principal Guenther Steiner’s contract, elevating Komatsu to the leadership role.
The team’s owner, Gene Haas, will celebrate the milestone anniversary by participating in the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a move Komatsu initiated to enhance Haas’s involvement in the sport. “When he came to Miami, he really enjoyed being there,” said Komatsu. “His passion for detail and his enjoyment of the events has only increased.”
Amid ongoing interest in acquiring the team, Komatsu reassured that Haas is committed to ownership, dismissing potential buyers as “annoying” for their persistent inquiries. “He’s excited to be involved in F1, especially with the upcoming changes in the grid format,” he noted.
As Haas fortifies its presence in F1, the team looks to build on the momentum established in the past season, ensuring that its competitive spirit remains intact under the stewardship of a dedicated owner.
