Aston Martin Prepares for Key Weekend with AMR25 Updates

Aston Martin’s latest iteration, the AMR25, has undergone significant technical refinements ahead of this weekend’s race. Development began in Mercedes’ wind tunnel before the final adjustments were validated at Aston Martin’s Silverstone facility.

The team identified seven critical areas for improvement, notably in the underbody design. Modifications include reshaped floor tunnels, reconfigured floor fences for enhanced airflow, and detailed adjustments to the edge wing and diffuser profile.

Key changes also feature the introduction of a new fin on the halo mounts and a tightened ‘Coke bottle’ section on the engine cover, aimed at boosting floor performance. Adjustments to the sidepods, particularly the rear shoulder, are designed to optimize airflow management, ensuring better attachment to the underfloor for improved diffuser suction.

During Friday’s practice, driver Lance Stroll tested the updated package, with the team optimistic about its performance. Deputy Technical Director Eric Blandin noted the need for a positive step forward after underwhelming results in recent races. “It’s a bit tight [on parts], but we’ll try. If it goes well, hopefully, we can run both cars with it tomorrow,” he remarked.

Blandin emphasized a reevaluation of development processes following the team’s struggles early in the 2024-2025 season, advocating for a streamlined approach as they prepare for the 2026 regulations. He stated, “Now is the time to consolidate and improve the organization to make a big impact in ’26. We hope to gain a few tenths compared to our competitors.”

Currently, Aston Martin’s performance has placed them between eighth and ninth fastest, with Fernando Alonso facing challenges, qualifying 13th on multiple occasions without reaching Q3. The team aims to regain momentum, especially at Imola, where last year’s updates marked a turning point in their performance.

As the racing weekend unfolds, Aston Martin is poised for a critical evaluation of their revised package, striving to reclaim competitive standing in the championship.
