Tsunoda Impresses at Red Bull Amid Challenging Conditions
Yuki Tsunoda has made notable strides within the Red Bull team as affirmed by team principal Christian Horner. Following a test in the RB19 at Silverstone, Tsunoda has demonstrated solid adaptability despite facing the notoriously unpredictable British weather, which limited his track time.
Tsunoda’s appointment comes in the wake of Liam Lawson’s return to Red Bull after two races, requiring Tsunoda to acclimate quickly. Horner lauded Tsunoda’s positive influence and effective feedback, emphasizing the importance of his experience in his fifth season in Formula 1.
“It’s just more seat time for him, getting used to the engineering and team dynamics,” Horner remarked. “He’s brought a really positive energy into the team and is offering useful feedback, which provides direction.”
Importantly, Tsunoda is focusing on his own setup rather than comparing himself to teammate Max Verstappen, a strategy Horner believes is wise. “He’s not obsessing over what Max is doing; he’s working closely with his engineer,” Horner noted.
Additionally, Horner highlighted the performance of Isack Hadjar, who has scored five points in his first five races, showcasing competitive pace across unfamiliar circuits. “I think he’s exceeded all our expectations and adapted brilliantly,” said Horner, endorsing the confidence and energy of the new generation of drivers.
Tsunoda’s and Hadjar’s performances indicate Red Bull’s robust driver development strategy, underlining the team’s potential for future success as they prepare for the upcoming Miami Grand Prix.
