Aitken Tops Practice for Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen

Jack Aitken continued to demonstrate his prowess on the track, leading the second practice session for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen with a blistering lap time of 1m33.865s in the No. 31 Cadillac Whelen V-Series.R. This time marked the fastest of the weekend, relegating Ricky Taylor and his No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac to second place with a time of 1m33.996s, solidifying a Cadillac 1-2.

Acura Meyer Shank Racing’s Colin Braun drove the No. 60 ARX-06 to third, while teammate Renger van der Zande in the No. 93 car placed fourth. Dries Vanthoor rounded out the top five in the No. 24 Team RLL BMW M Hybrid V8.

Notably, the highest-placing Porsche 963 was the No. 5 Proton Competition entry of Nico Varrone, clocking in seventh overall.

The session was interrupted by two red flags. The first occurred due to a collision involving Malthe Jakobsen of CrowdStrike by APR and Adam Adelson of Wright Motorsports at Turn 6, resulting in damage to both cars. A simultaneous incident involved AJ Muss in the No. 021 Triarsi Competizione Ferrari, who spun after contact with a Corvette Racing entry.

Further drama ensued when the No. 99 AO Racing ORECA halted on track, triggering a second red flag with 25 minutes remaining.

In LMP2, Manuel Espirito Santo in the No. 73 Pratt Miller Motorsports ORECA 07 set the fastest time of 1m35.967s, while Mikkel Jensen followed closely in the No. 11 TDS Racing ORECA by just five hundredths of a second.

In the GTD PRO category, Sandy Mitchell in the Pfaff Motorsports No. 9 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO secured the top spot for the second consecutive session with a best time of 1m45.741s. The Italian duo of Albert Costa in the No. 81 DragonSpeed Ferrari 296 GT3 and Nicky Catsburg in the No. 4 Corvette Racing Z06 GT3.R completed the top three.

Alec Udell led the GTD class in his No. 36 DXDT Racing Chevrolet Corvette with a 1m45.258s lap, showcasing competitive pace over his class rivals.

Qualifying is scheduled to begin at 2:20 PM ET and will be available for live streaming on Peacock in the United States and on YouTube and IMSA.TV internationally.
