Cadillac’s Daytona Bid Hampered by Collision in Hours Eight

In a critical turn of events during the Rolex 24 at Daytona, Cadillac’s ambitions for victory took a significant hit when the #40 V-Series.R, entered by Wayne Taylor Racing, was sidelined following a multi-car crash in the eighth hour of the race.

The incident unfolded as the race resumed after its fourth caution. Louis Deletraz, competing for sixth place against Tom Blomqvist in the #60 Meyer Shank Acura, lost control and spun into the barriers at Turn 2. The collision led to a chaotic scene, with Nick Boulle exiting the #2 United Autosports ORECA and Sebastien Bourdais sustaining damage in the #8 Tower Motorsport LMP2 entry.

Several GT contenders were also affected, including the #48 Paul Miller BMW, #77 AO Racing Porsche, and #9 Pfaff Lamborghini. At the time of the crash, the #48 BMW, driven by Max Hesse, was leading the GTD Pro class.

The #40 Cadillac, which had been performing strongly and leading the GTP class with Kamui Kobayashi, was later transported away on a flatbed truck, effectively ending its race aspirations. Meanwhile, two other Cadillac entries remained competitive, with Jack Aitken leading in the #31 Action Express Racing car and another Cadillac in third place.

As the race continues, teams are strategizing for the next stages while assessing the fallout from this pivotal moment.
