Barrichello Steps Up for VDSR at IMSA Debut

Eduardo “Dudu” Barrichello, son of Formula One veteran Rubens Barrichello, will make his IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut with Van der Steur Racing (VDSR) at this weekend’s TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Barrichello, 23, replaces regular driver Rory van der Steur, who is sidelined due to a recent mountain biking accident.

In a video shared on social media, Barrichello expressed gratitude towards VDSR for the opportunity, stating, “I promise to keep your seat very warm and tidy. I’m super excited for this week.” He will share the No. 19 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 with teammates Valentin Hasse-Clot and Anthony McIntosh.

Barrichello finished third in last year’s Brazilian Stock Car Pro series before transitioning to the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), where he secured his first LMGT3 podium during the 6 Hours of São Paulo. That race saw him and McIntosh (making his WEC debut) team up with Hasse-Clot for a strong performance.

This trio will not only compete at Indy but also together in the upcoming WEC 6 Hours of Fuji next weekend, marking McIntosh’s second start with Racing Spirit of Léman. Barrichello’s participation adds depth to VDSR’s lineup as they aim for a competitive finish in the GTD class.
