Tandy, Nasr, and Vanthoor Secure Back-to-Back Wins in IMSA Championship
Sebring, FL — The Porsche Penske Motorsport trio of Nick Tandy, Felipe Nasr, and Laurens Vanthoor triumphed in the 12-hour race at Sebring, solidifying their dominance in the 2025 IMSA SportsCar Championship. This victory follows their earlier success at Daytona, marking a historic achievement for Tandy, who now joins the elite ranks of drivers with wins at Le Mans, Daytona, and Sebring — a prestigious “triple crown” of endurance racing.
The race at Sebring was characterized by strategic mastery and speed, while not revealing the same nail-biting tension found at Daytona. The winning #7 Porsche 963 LMDh led 166 laps, showcasing its pace, especially during nightfall, where it pulled ahead of the competition. Tandy stated, “Just like Daytona, we didn’t get any penalties, have any contacts or any technical problems. It was another flawless race.”
Despite the competitive edge of the Action Express Racing Cadillac V-Series.R, which led 155 laps, strategic miscalculations in the final hours relegated it to a fifth-place finish. Earl Bamber explained the pressures of tire strategies and the difficulties faced in overtaking during the demanding race conditions. “At night, [Porsche] came alive and looked to be the strongest of the manufacturers,” he remarked.
The conclusion saw Tandy reclaim the lead from BMW’s Marco Wittmann after a late pit stop, executing a decisive move in Turn 17. “To be part of a select group who have won the triple crown makes me proud,” Tandy expressed, reflecting on his remarkable career achievements over the past weeks.
As the championship progresses, Tandy maintains clear focus on the upcoming race. “Records are great for the history books, but there’s a championship to win. The motivation comes with the challenge of trying to beat everyone,” he stated.
With two victories in hand, the driving team looks forward to continuing their pursuit of excellence in the next round at Long Beach.
