BMW M Team RLL Secures Dominant 1-2 Finish at Road America

Elkhart Lake, WI – BMW M Team RLL clinched a remarkable 1-2 finish in the Motul SportsCar Grand Prix on Sunday, with the No. 24 BMW M Hybrid V8, driven by Philipp Eng and Dries Vanthoor, taking the top spot. This victory comes on the heels of BMW M Motorsport’s announcement not to renew its racing service contract with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing for 2026.

The sister No. 25 BMW, piloted by Marco Wittmann and Sheldon van der Linde, finished just behind in second place. The No. 93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing ARX-06, driven by Renger van der Zande and Nick Yelloly, rounded out the podium in third, showcasing a competitive field.

In the GTP Championship, Mathieu Jaminet and Matt Campbell extended their lead despite a challenging race. They capitalized on a 60-second stop-and-go penalty assessed to Nick Tandy of the No. 7 Penske Porsche after a collision involving the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac, ultimately finishing 11th in class.

In LMP2, AO Racing’s PJ Hyett and Dane Cameron secured their second consecutive class victory with the No. 99 ORECA 07-Gibson, taking the championship lead after United Autosports’ Daniel Goldburg crashed early in the race. Inter Europol Competition’s Jeremy Clarke and Connor De Phillippi secured second, followed by TDS Racing and United Autosports, completing the top four.

A significant shift occurred in the GTD PRO category when Laurin Heinrich’s No. 77 Porsche 911 GT3 R had to pit from the lead late in the race, allowing the No. 1 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3 EVO team, composed of Madison Snow and Neil Verhagen, to claim victory. Mike Rockenfeller and Sebastian Priaulx finished second in the No. 64 Ford Multimatic Mustang GT3, while the final podium spot went to the No. 81 DragonSpeed Ferrari 296 GT3.

In the GTD class, a decisive pass by Kenton Koch in the No. 021 Ferrari for Triarsi Competizione culminated in their first-ever IMSA victory. Koch executed a bold maneuver at Turn 6 to overtake Alec Udell’s No. 36 DXDT Racing Corvette, leading to Udell’s eventual eighth-place finish due to damage.

The No. 78 Forte Racing Lamborghini finished second, with the No. 34 Conquest Racing Ferrari and No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW completing the top four in GTD.

As the series approaches the final two races, the stakes continue to rise across all classes.
