Romain Grosjean Departs Lamborghini After Three-Year Tenure

Romain Grosjean has officially parted ways with Lamborghini after a three-year collaboration within the IMSA SportsCar Championship. Joining the Italian manufacturer in early 2023, Grosjean raced its Huracan GT3 Evo2 in the GTD Pro class, notably competing in the Daytona 24 Hours and Sebring 12 Hours.

During his time with Lamborghini, Grosjean played a significant role in the development of the SC63 Hypercar, which is slated for a dual campaign in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and IMSA in 2024. His tenure culminated in a fourth-place finish at the recent Petit Le Mans, solidifying his impact within the team’s IMSA program.

Grosjean also participated in Lamborghini’s Le Mans 24 Hours team for 2024, finishing 13th alongside teammates Andrea Caldarelli and Matteo Cairoli. However, Lamborghini recently announced a pause in its LMDh program, shifting focus towards the newly developed Temerario GT3, expected to debut in 2026. The brand had already exited the WEC after one season due to regulatory changes necessitating entries of two cars in the Hypercar class.

In a statement, Lamborghini reflected on Grosjean’s contributions, highlighting the emotional journey from his initial laps with the SC63 to competing at Le Mans: “Thank you, Romain, for the passion, talent, and commitment you brought to the track with us. See you on the asphalt!”

Grosjean’s future racing plans remain unclear following this departure. After ending his Formula 1 career in 2020, he raced in IndyCar for four seasons before transitioning to sportscar racing this year after parting ways with Juncos Hollinger Racing.
