28th Motul Petit Le Mans: Cadillac Dominates Season Finale

Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta – The No. 31 Cadillac Whelen V-Series.R, driven by Jack Aitken, Earl Bamber, and Frederik Vesti, secured victory at the 28th Motul Petit Le Mans, concluding the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with consecutive wins in the GTP category. The triumph highlights Cadillac’s competitive resilience as they closed the season on a high note.

Porsche Penske Motorsport’s No. 6 Porsche 963, piloted by Mathieu Jaminet and Matt Campbell alongside relief driver Laurens Vanthoor, finished third but clinched the 2025 GTP drivers’ championship. Vanthoor stepped in after Julien Andlauer withdrew due to injury. The No. 6 Porsche also captured the GTP teams’ championship while Porsche claimed the manufacturers’ title, successfully defending all GTP accolades, including the Michelin Endurance Cup.

Bamber maintained a strong lead for the final two hours, but the top two contenders required a last-minute fuel stop, allowing the No. 63 Lamborghini Squadra Corse SC63, driven by Romain Grosjean, Edoardo Mortara, and Daniil Kvyat, to temporarily surge into second. Ultimately, a calculated fuel strategy enabled the No. 23 Aston Martin THOR Team Valkyrie, driven by Ross Gunn, Roman de Angelis, and Alex Riberas, to secure its first IMSA podium in second place, while Grosjean’s Lamborghini finished fourth.
