Kyle Moyer Joins Arrow McLaren as Director of Competition

In a significant shift within the IndyCar Series, former Team Penske team manager Kyle Moyer has signed with Arrow McLaren, reuniting with ex-driver and current team principal Tony Kanaan. Moyer, a veteran in the sport, spent the majority of his career at Andretti Global before his unexpected move to Penske in 2015. His release from Penske in May came as a surprise, given his expertise and leadership.

Moyer will officially assume his role on June 30, bringing a strong record in team-building and strategic acumen. He joins Scott Harner, who was hired as the director of race operations during the offseason, enhancing Arrow McLaren’s leadership team.

Moyer’s experience and relationships in the paddock, particularly with drivers and engineers, underscore his reputation as a well-respected figure in motorsports. Following this weekend’s race at Road America, Moyer is expected to make his debut at the Iowa Speedway test.

In a tactical adjustment, Kanaan will transition from Nolan Siegel’s timing stand to oversee the team’s three cars, while Moyer takes on a mentorship role for Siegel, similar to his previous position as race strategist for Scott McLaughlin at Penske.

“This is a relationship I made in my racing career, and these are the relationships that count,” Kanaan stated. “This is someone I trust and worked a lot together with, and we have the same goals.”

Moyer’s addition signals a bold strategy for Arrow McLaren as they seek to enhance their competitive edge in the IndyCar Series.
