Ferrucci Prepares for Monterey After Injury Recovery

Santino Ferrucci has announced significant recovery progress from the hand injury sustained during a warm-up crash in Toronto. The AJ Foyt Racing driver reported nearly complete reduction in swelling and around 90% grip strength, indicating readiness for the upcoming Java House Grand Prix of Monterey. “The swelling of my hand has actually almost gone down by 100 percent,” Ferrucci stated. “I’m hoping by the time we get to the race, or at least get to California, we’re good and all the way back.”

The trip to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca will conclude a demanding four-week slate, featuring five races for the IndyCar Series. In an unusual approach to downtime, Ferrucci opted for a road trip from his home in Dallas, Texas, to California, bypassing flights and rental cars. “It’s just nice to do a road trip and mentally reset and put everything behind,” he explained, reflecting on the season’s pressures.

This excursion takes Ferrucci through New Mexico and Arizona, which offers new views and experiences. “I’ve done the cross-country trek, but I’ve never done one from Dallas. It’s beautiful out here,” he added.

Ferrucci’s determination to stay positive amidst challenges underscores his resilience and commitment as he heads into the final stretch of the season, with the next race set for August 10 in Portland.
